Japan's Softbank wins most cell phone users in October

TOKYO:
Softbank Corp, Japan's least mobile telephone carrier, added more than new users than
its larger challengers for the 6th consecutive calendar month in October, information released by the
operators showed on Wednesday. Softbank signed up 158,600 net
additional subscribers, whipping No 2 KDDI Corp, which added a network 133,800 users. Both far outran Japan's top mobile telephone bearer NTT DoCoMo Inc, which netted
39,100 new users. The
subscription information come ups on the heels of new pricing programs by DoCoMo and KDDI in
which the two would take down calling complaints and monthly fees while raising handset
prices to deter users from switching carriers.
